The food science company will use its expertise to offer a “comprehensive range” of wine analysis, testing and wine consulting services to WineGB members.
Campden reports that there are more than 4,000 member companies in 90 countries, leveraging its 250-plus technical experts in the UK and Europe to help make safer, tastier, more sustainable and affordable food backed by investment in “purposeful research and science”.
Industry support
Commenting on the new partnership, Nicola Bates, CEO of WineGB, said: “We are delighted that Campden BRI has chosen to increase its support of Britain’s wine industry by partnering with WineGB.
“As a long-standing associate trade member of WineGB and a leading provider of wine analysis services, Campden is extremely knowledgeable of our industry and its requirements. We look forward to supporting enhanced technical service offerings as our sector continues to grow.”
Campden's partnership with the association builds on its growing wine expertise – the past year has seen the group work with the Australian Wine Research Institute to deliver 'grape to glass' services, including in-depth technical analytical capabilities and sensory expertise.
Growing reputation of wine
BRI chief executive, Peter Hedridge, added: “The growing reputation of English and Welsh wines and the expansion of the industry means that the best scientific insight and advice is clearly needed to support this British success story.”
“In addition to this partnership, we have plans to expand the support we can offer to wine producers, as we believe the UK wine industry is underserved in this area. With our background in scientific research in the food and drink industry, we can bring a new level of capability to serve WineGB members and the wider industry.
Meanwhile, ultra-processed foods, staff retention, recyclability, legislative variation and foods high in fat, salt and sugar were the five key challenges the food and drink industry needed to address, identified by Campden BRI.
