Plumpton College, the UK’s centre of excellence for wine education, training and research, has announced the appointment of Sam Linter as its new Director of Wine.
Linter will continue as Chair of WineGB alongside her new role with Plumpton, where she will devote her career even more to the English wine sector.
Prior to joining Plumpton College, she worked as General Manager and Head Winemaker at Bolney Wine Estate, where she helped transform the brand into one of the UK’s top ten wine producers.
Under her leadership, Bolney Wine Estate launched a successful tourism model, becoming one of the first vineyards in the UK to do so. Furthermore, she achieved a historic milestone by overseeing the first sale of an English wine brand to a major international sparkling wine group.
Commenting on her appointment, Linter said: “I am excited about the prospects of the next stage in my journey and look forward to the new challenge that awaits me. By leveraging my expertise and experience, I am eager to contribute to educating and empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs and winemakers.”
“I am confident that Sam Linter’s proven track record, tireless dedication and visionary leadership will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of wine education and innovation within our institution,” added Jeremy Kerswell, Principal of Plumpton College. “Her appointment as Director of Wine reflects Plumpton College’s continued commitment to excellence and its mission to drive growth and innovation in the wine industry.”
