Although some wine makers may claim that freezing in late April is the building of the character, the fact is that frost damage can destroy the returns and destroy a season before you start properly. However, assistance on hand: a new Bud model has been launched to help the UK chrome managers in predicting and managing frost risk more effectively.
This model is part of a two -year research project funded by Innovate UK and DEFRA, which is led by Weatherqust, with the support of the UK Center for Agricultural Technology, the Bloompton College, Vinescapes, Vinewatch and Winegb. The initiative aims to provide chrome managers with the most detailed and privacy frost expectations of the site, which helps them make enlightened and sustainable decisions when dealing with frost events.
Approxable approach to frost management
At the heart of the project, there is the Bud Burt Hub app, which allows vineyard managers to record the timing of skiing across different regions and grape varieties. The collected data will be used to improve the Bud Burst model, providing farmers with better visions when their chrome is more likely to damage frost and enable them to take preventive action in a timely manner.
