It's English Wine Week, with events taking place nationwide until 23 June to celebrate our thriving industry. Although our wines are relatively small in size and small production, they have an exceptional quality that is reflected in their price.
You may be familiar with English sparkling wines, which are globally recognized and award-winning – even beating Champagne in blind tastings. This week I'm delighted to highlight four delicious English winners.
M&S Rosé Petit Nut Brut 2023 (11.5%), £15, ocado.com.
Made using nature's ancient method, this wine features a delicate berry aroma, a dry finish, low ABV, and a subtle potency. The perfect gateway to this modern style of glamour.

Chapel Down Chardonnay 2023 (12%), £15, chapeldown.com
This is a Chablis style, with aromas of freshly picked Granny Smith apples, a squeeze of lemon and a mineral finish. I opened it for a friend, and it was gone in a flash!

Silent Pool Rosé 2023 (11.5%), £19.95, alburyvineyard.com
At a recent tasting, this fresh, organic rosé shone with notes of wild strawberry. It was elegantly and balancedly presented on board the Gloriana, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee rowing ship.

Simpsons Rabbit Hole Pinot Noir 2022 (13%), £29 hawkinsbros.co.uk
Burgundy, move! The buzz around English Pinot is growing, and this example—from the expert husband-and-wife team—blends fine cherries with subtle sweet spices and earthy nuances.
